Apollo 11 Mission: Online Lesson using the Jigsaw Teaching Strategy
Some time back we covered the Jigsaw teaching strategy in detail. But it’s better to provide a great practical example. So here is an excellent LAMS lesson that highlights the benefits of Jigsaw when applied to good topic. In this case: Apollo 11 Moon Mission.
Lesson Details for Teachers
A Moon mission is complex, so attempting to cover all aspects on it in a single lesson can be tedious.
Using Jigsaw, we are able to split the mission into 5 content areas (content chunks are they are called in the Jigsaw jargon):
- Crew,
- Spacecraft,
- Preparations,
- Journey and
- Landing
These content areas will be tackled by each expert teams which will learner each content related to this area, synthesise and create a summary of it to be presented to their home teams. (Need help understanding the Jigsaw flow? This can help)
